KB-1051 Icons and images do not display correctly in Appian

Symptoms

Upon first logging into Appian, the image for the site logo is broken:

Any instance of the site logo from that point on is also broken. All icons in Appian Designer as well as user profile photos in Tempo are broken.

In addition to the above symptoms, when creating a new post on News, the following error is displayed:

Your Post Could Not Be Created

Please try again.

Cause

There is a mismatch between the URL defined in custom.properties and the URL used to access Appian.

Action

Verify that the URL used to access Appian is correct
Verify the URL defined in custom.properties with the following three properties:

conf.suite.SCHEME
conf.suite.APPLICATION_CONTEXT
cont.suite.SERVER_AND_PORT

The URL that users will need to access APPIAN is <SCHEME>://<SERVER_AND_PORT>/<APPLICATION_CONTEXT>. If any of the above three properties need to be changed, stop the application server, make the changes, and start the application server again.
