KB-1193 Question marks (???) appear in place of a process model name

Symptoms

After importing an application from a different environment (e.g., from Forum), a string of question marks ("???") appears instead of the names of process models and process instances:

Cause

The imported application was developed in a different primary language to the current environment. The question marks ("???") indicate that the application designer did not provide alternative translations for different languages. This does not prevent the process models from running.

Action

Update the locale/names of the affected process models to match the primary language of the current environment.

Workaround

Manually update the names of the affected process models or use the Process Management Services shared component to make bulk changes.

This article applies to all versions of Appian.
