KB-1229 "Error 403 - Forbidden" thrown when trying to access the Admin Console (/suite/admin)

Symptoms

When a user tries to access /admin, the user is redirected to a 403 - Forbidden error:

Error 403 - Forbidden

Sorry, your request could not be processed.

Cause

The user is of the type Basic User and does not have the privileges to access the Administration Console. Only a user of type System Administrator has permission to access the Administration Console.

That being said, The OOTB Administrator user (username of "Administrator") is specifically prohibited from accessing the Administration Console in order to ensure that all changes can be traced to a specific named user rather than a shared account.

Action

Change the type of the user from Basic User to System Administrator. See Managing User Rights and Security for more information.

If using the OOTB Administrator account, create a separate user with System Administrator privileges and use that user to access the Admin Console.
