KB-1268 Users are unable to load Appian Forms Designer or grids on Portal forms

This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptoms

When opening the Forms Designer from a process model in Internet Explorer, the entire design space is grey:

Another symptom occurs when a Portal Form is designed with a grid object, but the grid itself does not render when the form is encountered by a user. The screenshot below shows how the Portal Form should look when the grid displays. Notice the Add Item option, the grid object, and the column name:

The following screenshot shows the grid not rendering when the user encounters the form, which is symptomatic of this issue. Notice that the Add Item option, grid object, and the column name are missing:

Cause

This issue is caused by setting the Save Value As field to a CDT in at least one column in the grid.

This issue has been addressed via AN-72705 in the following hotfixes/versions:

Appian 16.2 Hotfix Package D
Appian 16.3

Action

Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.
