This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptoms

Users are unable to find a particular object when searching for it or when expecting auto-complete to pull up the relevant results. For example,

Cause

If a Knowledge Center is marked to "Hide Knowledge Center from search results", all documents/rules/constants created before that checkbox was enabled will be hidden from search functionality. This is true even if the objects are unrelated to the Knowledge Center.

This issue has been resolved via AN-41855 in Appian 18.1.

Action

Upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Workaround

Navigate to the Knowledge Centers, find the one with the checkbox "Hide Knowledge Center from search results" enabled, and disable the checkbox.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 17.4 and earlier.

Cause

This issue occurs when any Knowledge Center is configured to be hidden from search results. Note that it impacts rules/constants/interfaces even if the KC does not relate to these objects.

Action

Disable the “Hide Knowledge Center from search results” in all of the Knowledge Center security configurations:
