KB-1546 Buttons in /design are non-responsive in IE11

Symptoms

When using an older version of IE11, the default Appian Designer buttons shown below are non-responsive and the cursor does not react when moved over them:

There are no errors in the application server log, no errors in the browser console, and no issues seen in a network capture.

Cause

The version of IE11 being used is not the latest supported version released by Microsoft.

Action

Upgrade to the latest supported version of IE11.

As noted in the System Requirements, Appian recommends using the latest supported browser version and to always apply all available security updates.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian version 17.4 and later.
