Symptoms

A custom build of the Appian mobile application for Android is removed from the Google Play Store with the following e-mail or message from Google:

Policy issue: Google Play requires developers to provide a valid privacy policy when the app requests or handles sensitive user or device information. Your app requests sensitive permissions (e.g. camera, microphone, accounts, contacts, or phone) or user data, but does not include a valid privacy policy.

Cause

Appian's privacy policy was not provided to Google Play in conjunction with the submitted Android application.

Action

Resubmit the application to Google through the Google Play Console using the following instructions from Google, and include the link to Appian's privacy policy (https://www.appian.com/privacy/) as the privacy policy URL.

Here’s how you can submit your app for another review:

1. Read through the User Data policy and Personal and Sensitive Information article and make the necessary changes to your app.

2. Sign in to your Play Console and be sure to include a link to a valid privacy policy on your app's Store Listing page and within your app. You can find more information in our Play Console Help Center.

3. Submit your app

If the instructions you receive from Google via e-mail differ from the above, please follow Google's instructions and submit the privacy policy link where required.
