Symptoms

The application server logs show the following error:

ERROR com.appiancorp.ra.workpoller.WorkPoller - ProcessExec02: Error while trying to accept Work in Bulk: D:\appian\logs/db_PX021_YYYY-MM-DD_XXXX.log: The handle is invalid.

Cause

Appian is trying to write to the file specified in the error, but another program on the server is trying to use or make changes to the same file. The external software has locked the file and Appian is unable to write to it. Examples of such applications that would do this include (but are not limited to) backup software, antivirus software, and IDS.

Action

Disable any application attempting to use or make changes to the files (or simply remove the files from the scope of those applications).

Affected Versions

This article applies to all versions of Appian.
