The Administrator service context must not be used. Any other alternative for using the administrator context instead of using below code provided?

Hi jessicae, We don't need main method to run the code. Appian By default call the run method in smart service. Rather than testing the code in Eclipse, create a smart service and test it in environment. It's better approach. I've modified code try to run in appian, and configure return variables. If you want to see the results in Logs use System.out.println(). It will print the result in Logs.

I think this is because the injection of services is done by the application server at runtime. I suggest to do a basic test of your google code and as it works just deploy the compiled plugin to Appian. I think there is some method how to test OSGI components outside an application server but for my plugin development this was not necessary.

As per documentation using the ServiceLocator is deprecated.

Quote: "This is the only valid method for obtaining a *Service within custom Smart Service code. Do not call ServiceLocator.get*."

Example from docs: public MySmartService(SmartServiceContext smartServiceCtx, Context initialContext) {
super();
this.smartServiceCtx = smartServiceCtx;
this.initialContext = initialContext;
}

Hi jessicae, ContentService can be be used out side of the constructor also. In previous, i have used in constructor, but it can work out side the constructor also. Before using the ContentService, in code we need made some configurtion as per documentation in API.
Sample Code i used before:
/* Under Construction */
public TwitterIntegration(SmartServiceContext smartServiceCtx) {
/* Step1 */ this.smartServiceCtx = smartServiceCtx;
/* Step2 */ this.serviceContext = ServiceLocator.getAdministratorServiceContext();
/* Step3 */ this.contentService = ServiceLocator.getContentService((ServiceContext)this.serviceContext);
}

I think you missed Step2 in your code. Because of that you are getting null.

Check forum.appian.com/.../Custom_Smart_Service_Plug-ins.html. You have to add all needed Appian services to the constructor.

And also to add, if this only works on the run() method, can i test the smart service locally coz currently i'm testing the plugin on the main method of the class.

coz, currently I'm using it on a separate class that I'm calling on the run() method of the smart service class and it seems that the code below returns null.

doc = this.contentService.download(documentId, ContentConstants.VERSION_CURRENT, Boolean.FALSE)[0];
