Process HQ

Last year at Appian World 2023, Appian announced that it would be reimagining its process mining capabilities through a “new, intuitive, intelligent, and collaborative” capability called Process HQ. We set out a vision for Process HQ centered on customers leveraging data fabric to quickly uncover process bottlenecks and discover valuable insights. With the help of eight beta customers covering multiple use cases and industry verticals, we achieved this goal and Process HQ is now generally available as of 24.2. Cumulatively, our beta customers found actionable insights with potential savings of over 1.4 million days of process time.

Key takeaways and product updates

Based on the feedback from beta participants, we have focused on making data prep even easier and analysis even more intuitive.

Data Prep

  • The data steward persona has been introduced so that business users can group values, create new custom record fields, and make other adjustments relevant to Process HQ without modifying the underlying record type or needing to go into Appian Designer. This also means these types of adjustments to the data can be made without going through a whole deployment cycle.
  • Later in 2024, additional enhancements will be added to the data fabric, such as supporting a higher row limit and the ability to filter on related records. These capabilities will unlock more Process HQ use cases and make data prep faster and easier.

Analysis

  • A new concept called views has been introduced. Views act as saved filters that give users more flexibility in segmenting their data and let them more easily investigate the right data in the right contexts.
  • KPIs have been added to Process HQ. This allows users to easily customize what to report on in the process, such as error rates, SLAs, process duration, and other process statistics.
  • The investigation experience is more guided, presenting the right information at the right time, which makes analysis even more intuitive, especially for first-time users.
