From my experience with the recent projects and projects in the past where our team have done the analysis work for mortgage and financial industries to automate and improve their manual business processes.
One of the Major pain point that we observe during the analysis phase is managing and processing the documents that come from different business units.Which is overwhelming to many of the employees by getting lost through multiple email strings. This hinders productivity across teams and also disables effective ways to complete the work. it is difficult to manage the workload, Meet  process deadlines Using outlook and gmail.This approach creates the lot of overhead  for the leadership to track all the metrics for the entire team.
The solution that we built now using Appian will save a lot of cost and enhance user experience which will integrate with gmail and  outlook performs  all the Data extraction ,Task Assignment and provides Real Time metrics to leadership. This approach also improve the overall efficiency, Transparency, Scalability and increased control over the process.
