R-One

Cognizant's R-ONE (One Stop for Requirements Management) Utility is an attempt at bridging any traceability or solutioning gap in applications by providing capability for business analysts to capture requirements directly within Appian platform.

Process of Building

• This utility can be accessed from any Appian application and enables capture of requirements as multi-level process flows linked to use cases or epics / user stories; along with complete visibility to all stakeholders
• BA-s can capture requirements as per desired format and ensure process flows are linked to captured requirements as well as export / import the captured use case / user stories for later reference
• We built this solution using the Appian recent functionalities and design patterns 
• With few team members and within less time, we were able to implement a small idea into a workable solution, with lot of features too

Inspiration

• Many IT implementations lead to suboptimal attainment of business outcomes; due to requirements capture being done at various locations and using different tools
• This led us to think of ways to mitigate this problem by allowing requirements to be captured directly within Appian  

Technologies Used

Challenges

• We had insufficient amount of time to capture all possible scenarios possible; therefore all possible scenarios have not been tested. 

Next Steps for R-One

• Planning for integration with BPMN process modeler to create models
• Extend the process to support review and approval from SME ( Sign-off process)
