Error trying to Configure Data Source for SQL Server which is hosted by AWS

Question

Hi I'm having issues when trying to create a new Data Source from the Admin Console. 
 The SQL Server is hosted by AWS and I am able to connect to it remotely via the SQL Management Studio client application. 
 I am able to connect to a different, remote SQL Server that is not hosted by AWS, perhaps something needs to be done on the AWS side, or maybe it is a version issue? 
 The SQL Server version on the AWS server is 13.0.4451 and the version on the SQL Server that is hosted elsewhere and that does work, is 13.0.1722. 
 Has anybody added a new Data Source for a SQL Server database hosted on AWS? 
 I'm using the connection details shown in the screenshot below:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've worked with customers to set up Oracle in AWS, but I expect the principles to be the same. Most Cloud providers I've worked with block all non HTTP/S inbound traffic to resources as a default. I suspect that the resource hosting your SQL Server instance needs to have firewall rules updated to allow the connection from the Appian system.

Remember that you need to configure SQL and your server to be open on that port. Check your AWS security group.

Hi Harrison. 
Yes, on closer inspection it seems that the RDS launch wizard configured the security group to only allow inbound traffic from our networks public IP. This is why we could connect from local SQL clients and not from the Appian Cloud instance.
