How to configure Appian to receive emails?

Email Configuration for Receiving Emails -->

Do we need to configure the Receive Emails part in ejb-jar.xml before configuring the conf.mailhandler.alias in custom.properties?

Or will ONLY configuring conf.mailhandler.alias in custom.properties work?...

    Setting up the alias is optional. If it is another system sending emails and not users, I would make sure that emails contain information for Appian to parse and kick off processes. You do not have to setup conditions in the events but in process model properties you need to setup check the "Public Events" checkbox to allow the guest user to kick it off.
