Does Appian Support Higher Version of Microsoft JDBC SQL Server Driver?

Hi all, 
 
 May I know if the Supported Microsoft JDBC SQL Server Driver list under System Requirement Page is a MUST or the least version that Appian supports? https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/18.1/System_Requirements.html 
 In the other words, if my version of Microsoft JDBC SQL Server Driver is later than 4.2/2.0 (e.g. 6.0), would Appian support it as well? or if there would be any potential problem? 
 
 Same questions applys to other components (e.g. Java) too.

It is recommended that "if don't see "or later", please use exactly that version of driver/tool"

On the contrary, while configuring the connector in Jboss, the connector in driver package must match jdk/jre version to be used, otherwise, use sqljdbc4.jar
