Changing default security of a documents folder

Hi, how am I supposed to change a documents folder's default security? Because right now the only way I have found is to change the security of the parent knowledge center, and then make the child folder inherit securities, and then make it not inherit securities. That feels incorrect, is there a more correct way?

What exactly do you want to achieve. if the user is not having access to the parent folder. how will the user get access to the child folder. its like you are giving keys of your bedroom to your guest without giving the keys to your main door. which do not solves the purpose. please advice if I understood your problem well.

That's the only way to change the default security. Change the default security in parent folder and make the child inherit it or not inherit it.
