Failed to connect to MySql at Localhost:3306

Question

Hello everyone, 
 
 I am trying to install a local installation and following the guide to install https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/17.1/Quick_Start_Installation_Guide_for_Windows_and_JBoss.html#-requirements 
 
 on the 9th step, when I am trying to setup workbench for Appian, I get an error "failed to connect to mysql at localhost 3306 with user root" 
 I am using the default instruction of root and password . 
 
 Any advice on where I am doing it wrong will be helpful.

Hi All, 
 
Thank you to all that guided me on the issue. I was able to successfully install MySql and MySql workbench. The issue was the current version of MySql 8.X is not compatible, so installed the Version 5.7.X version and it sorted out the issue.
