File Server Options

Dear all,

We're thinking about options for the physical location of documents.  I believe that for on-prem installations, documents are simply stored in the file system by default.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  So my question is that for a large implementation where documents are expected to be in very large numbers, are there recommended files servers that are compatible with Appian?  Secondly how will the Knowlege Centers be configure to use an external file server for physical location of the files?

Just as an aside, does anyone know what file server Appian Cloud uses?

Thanks.

  • Hi I am a solution architect with SOA and BPM designs mostly and my recommendation for the extensive use of digital documents is to use a specific product for that (ECM), the intention of BPM is process management, not for Business Intelligence , Big Data or Content Management, although the BPM suites cover the same functionality, it is limited, Appian offers the CMIS standard to interoperate with ECM products such as Filenet, Alfresco, Sharepoint, etc. regards
