The user requires create, update and delete priv to the database and obviously full priv on the tables that the user creates. This is the min requirement. If you plan to execute stored procedures, then the user should have the appropriate privileges

thanks Sathya -- is there a general user ID to connect to the databased from Appian? IE should this be setup with DB owner access? Also you mention user if a user creates a table(CDT) in Appian does it create it based on the users credentials for the specific user or is it to the general user ID user to connect?

There is none that Appian dictates. You can provide one of your convenience.
