Are you sure that you deployed the new search engine, please check how to deploy ss.ear in
forum.appian.com/.../Configuring_JBoss
under "Required Configurations" and "Add the Deployment Descriptor" sections.

7.4 ACM is not compatible with 7.5. Please folllow the installation documentation steps for Appian 7.5 until ACM 7.5 is released.

Hey Myles.... any idea when ACM 7.5 is going to be released? That's going to be a blocker for us being able to upgrade....

It is in testing, so once they feel confident about it, they will release it.

I tried making the necessary updates in the standalone.xml, but then it started complaining that:
JBAS014802: Cannot resolve expression 'expression \\"${appian.home.search-server}\\"' -- java.lang.IllegalStateException: Failed to resolve expression: ${appian.home.search-server}
I assume that's a property that is supposed to exist in my custom.properties file, something that would be taken care of if I was using the ACM 7.5 (instead of my ACM 7.3). I worry that there are several items like that that I would be missing if I don't use the updated ACM.

I am assuming that you are trying to install Appian 7.5, please check your standalone.conf and standalone.conf.bat in jboss/bin folder and make sure that the variables APPIAN_HOME_SEARCH_SERVER=C:/appian/search-server
APPIAN_HOME_EAR=C:/appian/ear are correctly set, both are required to deploy Appian correctly. more information can be found in
