What is the SERVER_AND_PORT you have defined in custom.properties? Make sure you are accessing Appian through that URL and port. Could you list the URL you are using to access Appian is well?
Could you attach the entire application-server.log?

1. JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6.2 is the certified version for Appian 7.6, you said you're using 6.3, if that is the case then please use 6.2 instead.
2. Once you start using the right application server, verify you're using JD7 and not JDK8
3. Confirm whether this is a clean install or an upgraded environment
4. Once you finish with these 3 items if the issue persists attach <JBOSS_HOME>\\standalone\\log
