I have a process where I had to make an update in production to change a variable from singular to multiple and deploy. If I go into the running instances, I'm not able to update variables. So, my question is this? How are they handled? Do they go on as they were in the process version they started on, or do they update all instances to the newer version. I'm guessing the first. Also, I can update any place where the elment is indicated in the running process instance to multiple, but if I can't update the variable, wouldn't I just be causing errors to update it every other AC location where it writes to it? Thanks for any feedback!...

A process model acts like a template to launch new instances, any changes to this template impact only new instances.
To update existing running instances to use the updated version of the model you may need to use the Process Upgrade API. There's a plug-in with this name here on Forum you can have a look at
