Trying to log in to Appian 7.9 cannot login using Windows 8.1 and internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17728. Using the same Username and password on a different pc with Windows 7 and the same browser configuration and version can login??? the error message that appear is Error 401 unauthorized. Any Idea?

Maybe the system does IP Filtering to prevent access from outside the corporate network.

You need to check with the owners of the environment to see if they are preventing the access from outside certain range of IPs
Additionally see if by refreshing the browser and logging in again the issue is resolved.

You may want to check with the administrators to see if they see something in their logs about the 401 to determine whether it's IP filtering related or Appian security related. I don't think this is related to the upgrade itself nor to the version of Windows you are using to connect.

We have faced the same issue and it turned out a firewall issue. Check firewall setting on both the machines.
