We are looking at increasing the maximum length for paragraph form fields using the conf.suite.DATA_CAP_PARAGRAPHS=x setting in the configuration files (from 1000 to say 5000 characters). Will increasing the size of the paragraphs allowed bloat our kdb & ram usage more than the occasional field being larger? i.e. will every instance of the paragraph in memory grow from a preset 1000 to 5000 characters in length? Other than changing our datastores to allow the larger field lengths (using a varchar) we wouldn't want the kdb's themselves to grow for every instance....

KDB size will depend on how many of the entries in the paragraph field is large. Changing the number alone shouldnt affect the KDB. However, what you need to consider is any mapping to your DB. Most of the DB I am familiar with has a max size of 4000 char for varchar or varchar2.
