Hi,
I am trying to install 7.10 version of apian and I am using java 8 and jboss 6.4. Also I did implement hotfix A. but jboss is crashing on something called "ipc connection failed on localhost:5012"....anyone has any ideas about how to counter this issue? Attaching server log....

Did you remove metadata from topology?

Have you tried search for similar threads usingthe search box in the top left? I've just searched for IpcConnection and found a couple of possible solutions, such as this one:
forum.appian.com/.../b-8813
- have you run checkengine.bat to make sure the engines are up?

I have met all the system requirements but seems like none of the engines are starting...I have 2 cpu cores, windows 7 64 bit, java 8(with updates upto 45)...jboss 6.4 and I have more than 50 GB in harddrive. Is there anything else that I need to be concerned about. I was able to start 7.9 version on this machine successfully....

To start the engines on Windows properly you have to do the following:
1. Click the Start button and type "cmd"
2. When you see the "cmd.exe" icon, do a right click -> Run as administrator
3. Start the engines using <APPIAN_HOME>\\server\\_scripts\\start-suite
4. Wait for the CPU usage to go down
5. Verify the engines started running <APPIAN_HOME>\\server\\_scripts\\diagnostic\\checkengine
The trick is step #2 and is needed depending on the security policies of the machine.

I fixed the issue...the problem was with appian 7.10 version there is no metadata engine and so that has to be removed from the topology file.....I was able to set up everything else smoothly...

The default topology that comes with the Configuration Manager does not have the metadata engine any more. It seems then that you copied yours from a previous version, remember that's not a best practice. The best practice is to merge and never to copy files from a previous version.

The best practice is to merge custom configurations and never to copy files from a previous version.
