We were installing Hotfix package F for Appian 7.9 .We did all the necessary steps mentioned in the migration guide.But when we started the search server,it starts correctly. But when we try to stop it we get a message saying ss.pid doesn't exist, implying the search server hasn't even started.

Are there any errors in the search-server.log? The status should show GREEN if it was started successfully.
