By default, the footer on tasks and alerts contains the following: "This message has been sent by Appian". Can someone tell me where this message can be changed?...

There are also header/footer templates stored in a KC.
Check under: > Default Community > System Knowledge Center> E-mail Templates, there will be two html files:
emailHeader and emailFooter.
Uploading a new version of the emailFooter should solve this for you.
