Hello,
We have a brand new Appian 7.11 installation but when we try to execute our first process model, we run into the following error : "All execution engines are at maximum load". We first thought that we just had to change the server.conf.processcommon. MAX_EXEC_ENGINE_LOAD_METRIC and to restart the services but unfortunatly it did not solve the problem.
Our server is a VPS / Centos 64 bit / 4 vCores / 8 Go RAM / 100 Go dedicated to Appian.
Any idea will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

I would have suspected MAX_EXEC_ENGINE_LOAD_METRIC as well.
Are you receiveing error messages in your Application Server Logs? Also, what is the size of you KDB files in the exec engines folder <Appian Home>/server/process/exec/(each engine has it's own folder from here)/gw1/pe<highest number>.kdb?

Thanks Jonathan for your feedback.
My application server log does not seem to bring much information :
2015-12-24 18:57:07,580 [http-/0.0.0.0:8080-1] ERROR com.appiancorp.process.runtime.processmodels.StartProcessUtil - com.appiancorp.suiteapi.common.exceptions.StorageLimitException: All execution engines are at maximum load. Cannot start process/simulation. Archive existing processes to free up space.
com.appiancorp.suiteapi.common.exceptions.StorageLimitException: All execution engines are at maximum load. Cannot start process/simulation. Archive existing processes to free up space.
Here are the kdb sizes:
00 : 18300 KB
01 : 18500 KB
02 : 18500 KB

Note that after changing the load metric, you need to restart Appian for the changes to take effect. Also, it may help to review your environment to ensure that it is appropriately sized
forum.appian.com/.../Sizing_Hardware_For_Appian.html
. The specs you quoted are the minimum needed to run Appian (see
forum.appian.com/.../System_Requirements.html)
. For heavier usage, you may need to allocate additional resources.

Hi Elliot. We just need the server for plugin development. Our configuration seems to meet the requirements, does not it?

I would think so. And your kdb files are small, as I would expect from what you're describing. What is your current setting for MAX_EXEC_ENGINE_LOAD_METRIC ?

The checkpointing warning is quite interesting I guess.

It's not particularly relevant to the behavior you're seeing, though it does indicate that the engines may not have been shutdown since you changed the load metric setting. If you restart Appian (
forum.appian.com/.../Starting_and_Stopping_Appian.html)
, are you still unable to start new processes?
