JBoss Server Fails to Start Up and Can't Take Heap Dump

Dear all,

There is a server that since yesterday evening cannot start. It is failing with a heap dump.

The last 3 lines in the server log are the following.

05:07:49,064 INFO [stdout] (ServerService Thread Pool -- 86) 2016-07-28 05:07:49,064 [ServerService Thread Pool -- 86]
INFO com.appiancorp.ix.spring.IaReplicatorSpringListener - Scheduling IA replication timer with a 60000 ms delay.
05:07:51,255 INFO [stdout] (Appian Timer - 0) 2016-07-28 05:07:51,253 [Appian Timer - 0] ERROR com.appiancorp.core.timer.timers.TransientTopicHeartbeat - No acknowledgement from TransientTopic, forcing rules cache to be cleared now.

ed: HQ11# [ timer expired, abort... ]

Has anyone encountered this before?

Regards

  • Lets try clearing the app server cache by deleting the following:

    <JBoss Home>/standalone/tmp
    <JBoss Home>/standalone/data

I am also wondering if the startup is still failing due to running out of memory? (Typically a heap dump would be being generated). If that is the case, and the server has sufficient free memory, then you can try increasing the heap size for the app server in standalone.conf or standalone.conf.bat (Linux/windows).
