Upgrading an Environment with a Shared Database

Question

Hi, I have two different environments pointing to same Database. Now I need to upgrade one of those environments to newer version of Appian while need to keep other on older version. I guess, when we upgrade, the schema will get updated & the older version won't be able to use that schema. Can one guide me on workaround for this as I will need both the environments working?

If this is a shared business database then i don't believe this will be affected by the upgrade. If this is a shared primary DS then you will need to clone it so that each environment uses its own primary DS. Keep in mind that a shared primary DS is neither recommended nor supported
