Unrecoverable Error
Evan Rust
My installation has been working fine, however tonight during development my computer unexpectedly turned off. After rebooting and restarting Appian, any form I open gives me the the "An unrecoverable error was encountered while processing your request. To prevent losing your work, copy the expression below before reloading your browser." message.
Other forum posts suggest checking the custom.properties file against the URL; my properties match, and this was not a problem an hour ago before my computer restarted. Also, the server.log does not contain any errors.

This is ok, its just letting you know that the expression you were editing, was not saved. To resole this, copy the expression to your clipboard, refresh the page and update the expression if needed and save.

Hi Sally, unfortunately the error happens every time I open the form (after refresh). Even if I create a new form and go to the expression view to paste in my copied code, I see the attached picture and cannot click into the window.

That is no good to hear.. How is the status of the Appian Engines? Run checkengine.bat|sh and confirm that all is well? Also, please attach an excerpt of the log at the relevant time for review so we can find out what is going on.

Thanks for the log, seems your environment started correctly. The error that is repeared seen for the XAException can be resolved via
access.redhat.com/.../22274
The issue for the expression is not related to the issue above, next steps:
- Clear Browser Cache
- Retest
If issue is not resolved,
- Stop App Server, Search Server, Engines gracefully
- Follow steps on
forum.appian.com/.../kb-1082.html
This will ensure that the correct version is indexed and should resolve the issue. Let us know if you have any troubles?
