SAML not firing automatically

I've recently set up SAML on an Appian cloud instance. I've verified that it is invoking the IDP correctly...through the "test" functionality on the configuration screen. I also used a specific "group" to restrict which users are getting authenticated via SAML. When I try to go to an Appian page, I am presented with a logon page. I assumed that Appian would redirect the page request to the SAML IDP in order to authenticate, and the response back (with the SAML token) would then place me on the Appian page I originally requested. Am I missing something?

  • Thanks for checking Eduardo. I got the same suggestion from Nick in support and that was the issue. It worked as expected once I checked that box. I hadn't checked the box because I knew I didn't want to see a login page. Our SAML implementation creates a SAML token without requiring an additional login... based on us being logged into our network. So this is why I didn't initially think to check that box. It makes sense to me now though.
