Why Output of one XOR can't be input of another XOR?

Hi, I think the XOR gate is having more than one input. If two or more inputs to a XOR gate then the process instance will stuck for second time, so we have to merge the flow in script task or try to avoid more inputs to XOR gate and then take it forward.

Even Appian said When a looped flow enters an OR or an XOR gateway, the gateway pauses after the first instance token passes through – until all other incoming flows arrive.

Hi Shubham,

You need to put a dummy script task node between two consecutive XOR for multiple instance run. This is Appian design limitation.
Even same XOR cannot be loop back. Thanks

Unfortunately, this is Appian restriction that you cannot use OR and XOR back to back. You need to add dummy script task as mentioned by fellow practitioner. Also, try to name this script task as "Dummy" or any other name which directly reflects that you have added this intentionally. Add description in the task for this intention. This will help in 2 ways,

1. Whoever, review or maintain this process in future, if unaware of this restriction, should not remove it. During code review and performance improvement we try to reduce number of nodes in the process. This node should not be target for that :)

2. In future, if this restriction is removed, we can remove this types of nodes with less efforts.

When multiple incoming flows are connected to the XOR gateway, it allows the first flow token through to an exclusive outgoing flow.To avoid this place an empty Script Task node between the incoming flows and the XOR node when you are routing multiple flows into the XOR .In XOR each outgoing path is assigned a condition. The conditions are evaluated according to their top-to-bottom ranking.This can resolve your issue.

Hi,

Use a dummy scrip task before joining to Xor gates as the xor gateway doesnt let you to connect together. Please try the approach and let me know if anymore help needed.
