Combining Alteryx and Appian

Hey everyone, can you guys give a bit more explanation as to what you mean exactly by combining Alteryx and Appian? Are we asking about integrating Appian with Alteryx? If we are talking about integration it should be straight forward with a web api call in which you would have your endpoints making a post/get call etc... The other way around we can also exposed Appian to an outside service that will thus consume endpoints provided by Appian. Is there something else involved that I am not taking into account? If so please clarify a little bit.
