I think you can create an expression rule using a!queryEntity() or queryRecord() and use queryFilter() in that rule.

You should be able to filter your resulting datasubset using the filter() function. See docs.appian.com/.../fnc_looping_filter.html

But AFAIK wild card search is not possible in filter() function. we have a requirement to perform multiple wild card searches.

I agree with stefanh791, you can use filter() function for achieving it

You can use the like() function inside your filter helper function to achieve this.
