How to retain editable controls values?

Hello, 
 I'm creating an application where there is a need to take user input but what happening is when we enter any details in the editable control, It immediately makes the value blank once control is shifted to somewhere else. Can someone please tell me how to resolve this? Thanks in advance

It sounds like your value is a different variable than what you are saving into. 
 
Something like this works: 
a!textField( 
 label: "Field" , 
 value: local!field , 
 saveInto: local!field 
)
