a!writeToDataStoreEntity works in WebAPI but does not work in Expression Rule

Question

Hi everyone, 
 
 I'm writing an Expression Rule with "a!writeToDataStoreEntity" but the same excerpt of code works inside a WebAPI but does not work inside an Expression Rule. Anyone knows why?

Hi - as per the help documentation - docs.appian.com/.../Write_to_Data_Store_Entity_Smart_Service.html - the a!write functionality will only execute inside a saveInto on a component or as a WebAPI interface.

Can you say a bit more about your use case? Because basically as paulc919 said, a!writeToDataStoreEntity is only intended to be used in places with user interaction - similarly to how a!save works. For automated implementations the traditional way to write to a DSE is via the Write to DSE node in a process model. And up until pretty recently, that's all we had.
