Our application was initially developed in 7.1 and the records were designed in "Feed" style. Over the years the database has grown in size and users are not able to open this Record due to huge volume of data returned. In latest versions of APPIAN i see grid style records where we can mention the initial number of records with pagination enabled. Does this means that in the first screen APPIAN only fetches say 50 or 60 records (mentioned in initial number of records) from DB and hit DB each time user moves to new pages.
From what I've seen, the out-of-box record "grid" style does a standard paged query to retrieve each page of data to populate the grid - so yes, it should be fetching only the first X number of rows until the user changes pages.
Thank you ,
Can you explain what you mean when you say:

Does this mean that it loads slowly, or times out, or shows an error? I actually wouldn't expect the performance to change noticeably with a large amount of data because the feed returns a maximum of 100 items. This should match the behavior of a grid with a batch size of 100.

I was under the assumption that he was referring to the fact that users can't access records older than the most recent 100 without filtering, but I guess I wasn't basing that on much.
Hi Peter & Mike,
What we observe is this error "APNX-1-4205-003" when user clicks the particular Records. We also had another observation where some of the data in back end table was corrupted (basically integer is having 13 or 14 digit) ; As per clarification from Peter ,it seems Feed style should work similar to Grid style with batch size of 100 ;now I feel may be this corrupted data is causing the issue. We are in the process of fixing the data issues ,looks like the issue may get resolved after this fix. I will keep you posted on the progress
