What is the reason for this question?
I have been asked in interview today, i don't know the answer, just a bit curious to learn
Then yes, the standard limit for data size returned by a!queryEntity is right around 1 MB.
thanks mike, can we increase it , if yes, how to do it ?
There is not a particular (supported) way that I'm aware of. In almost all use cases where you're running up against this limit, the proper solution would involve either batching and/or refining what columns are returned in your query.
Technically it is actually easy to do, but it will never solve your architectural problem. If 1 MB is not enough, then go for batching. If that is not enough, then doing it inside Appian is probably the wrong way.

It can be changed under custom.properties file. Below is the default configuration
conf.data.query.memory.limit=1048576
thank you
While this is technically true, I strongly recommend that you do not change this limit and discuss any concerns with the limit with Appian Support. There aren't many valid use cases for needing to return more data than this in Appian and changing the limit can impact other parts of the platform.
