we have a customer project where we use task chaining so that the user does not have to refresh the screen to see updated data.
With the new record sync feature in Appian, will task chaining be necessary ? our data source for our records not external, i.e the data is updated by CDTs within our Appian application to our database.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know this won't have much impact on how activity chaining works with respect to how quickly the viewer's data is refreshed when returning from a Related Action. Is the current chaining causing you particular issues?
As the data is still written to DB in process and that takes a few seconds, you still need to chain up to the write-to-datastore node.
the related action starts a process model. so the user is returned to the record view after the clicking of the action, the view is not refreshed with the latest write to the database. I was hoping the record sync will resolve this but thinking about this some more, it won't because the write to date store has to complete in order to refresh the record sync cache anyway, right?
I am not sure if there is any other mechanism to keep the record view updated with the latest data.
