Has anyone found a workaround for passing a dynamic value to a Record Source Filter?

For what purpose?
I have records with a one to many relationship. I can limit the amount of records on the parent record to under 1M by getting the records for the last 3 years for example. Would like to grab the ID of the Record ID from the first record in the filtered parent record list and apply it as a source filter on the child record.
This is in order to use the data sync feature.
