There is no difference to any other Mysql/Maria DB. Do you have any specific question regarding Appian?
do I need to run the sql statements direclty in SQL of cloud database or do I need to download DDL scripts and then update CDT's
I recommend to create a SQL script which you can re-run at any time which drops and creates the view. You do this in DB.
After the update, you will have to update the CDTs to match the view.
I am not sure why you would download DDL scripts.
I tried using alter statement to update one column which is having foreign key constraint but this effected the remaining views in the DB
You will need to check and/or disable your constraints before you modify the view.
