"Cannot filter by field [status] because it is a complex, multiple, or child of a multiple data type. (APNX-1-4203-020)"
Why am I getting this error?
I have two CD's "A" and "B"
their relationship is "A" has many "B"
I am trying to apply filter on a column of "B" by referring it in CDT "A" ...

How are you referencing the particular column of the particular B within the A? Given that A has many Bs, the [status] field may have multiple values per row. If you are using an "=" operator for the filter, have you tried using the IN operator instead?
