Record type sync

Question

I noticed that if I use sql to update data, the data in record type need to sync manually. 
 I want to know is there any way that the record type can sync automatically once I update data in db. In sync options tab I only saw Schedule full syncs, but It can't suit my require.

Hi Peon Is there any particular reason you are updating the data through database using SQL instead of using Appian related actions for it. AFAIK if the data is updated through SQL script from database then a manual sync is needed to sync the data. So, every time you use the SQL to change the data, come to that particular record and sync the data.

For ad-hoc updates in database like you have in your case there is no other way. Syncs can be scheduled to run at specific time only. So, the best way is to update data using records itself or sync every time to make changes in db data manually.

 Not sure why the records are being updated from backend. Could you please elaborate why if there is any particular reason. Also you can create a Process model with Sync Records smart service and try scheduling it to run for particular intervals.

In the case of synced records, if you don&rsquo;t update them using the Appian-recommended smart services and instead update the database directly, your record will not be synchronized and you&rsquo;ll be working with an invalid version of the data. 
 
 This is especially important for both reading and writing operations, in order to maintain the integrity of the system's data structure&mdash;particularly in systems with external data sources where multiple actors may be involved in reading and writing.
