This feature is available in version 16.1. While configuring User filters for a Record Type, there is a new attribute called "defaultOption". This determines which filter option is applied when a record list first loads. This value should match the label of the intended default filter option.

That's great! Unfortunately, we're going to be on 7.9 for a little bit longer, and I'm just launching an application that could really use this now. Were there any Shared Components or plugins that offered this functionality?

You may think of redirecting users directly to record dashboards by providing user with list of record items available as per user rolemap in an external page itself.

amitl - could you elaborate, it sounds like you've got an answer to my problem...

I sounds like he's suggesting you use a Web API to populate your external website with a custom record list view that meets your filtering requirements.

While certainly feasible, I would advise against that if possible. You'll end up complicating your architecture just to mimic a feature that is already built in to the latest version of Appian and that you will have available whenever you're able to upgrade.

Have you considered using a report for your requirement instead?

Not sure, if you had taken a look at Embedded Interfaces for record view. I was actually referring to Embedded Interfaces as your external pages, presenting users with record views that they have access to.

Thanks amitl, I appreciate the detail, the solution is interesting, but for a variety of reasons won't work for us. I'm going to investigate what roadblocks (if any) would stop us from moving to 16.1
