Document upload from Records

Hi All...I created a rule which has fileupload component to upload docs. Using bind function I'm triggering a PM with uploaded doc passed to d PM. By default the uploaded doc gets saved in Appian KC. But when I try to use the same rule in records(say as a new record view) and try to upload the document, it doesn't get saved in Appian KC. Any solution for this issue?
Basically I want the capability for d user to upload doc from Records on submit of a button and trigger the PM, so that it can be used in PM
