Embedding a record summary dashboard in a task

We need to build a generic approval/routing process (many, many of our applications need this), and I'm wondering if there's a way to embed the dashboard summary (or some other view) in a task.

Ideally resulting task would simply contain the view and some additional textfields and appropriate buttons. The generic task shouldn't need to be aware of the specific interfaces.

Sure, just build the summary as a SAIL section and put it in all tasks. Task specific widgets go below. We do something similar in many projects. I suggest to make the interface of the section as simple as possible so it will only accept the ID of your case/request/whatever and loads all the data itself. This makes changes a lot easier.
