Creating Users with hierarchy

While Creating Users in 17.1 we have a option to enter Supervisor name. Can this hierarchy be used for Processes where activities are SLA based.

Example : If an Activity has a SLA to complete in 4 hours. If it is violated then as per the user configuration activity should be assigned to its Supervisor or a mail should be sent as an escalation.


Please advise.
