Modifying the Edit Profile Screen

Question

We have a requirement to make the Office Phone a required field on the user profile. Is there a way to modify the Edit Profile screen so that the user is required to enter the Office Phone? We are on 17.4.

Office Phone cannot be made required at this time. 
However, one work-around to consider is using LDAP synchronization on a regular basis to automatically populate this user profile data.
