Process report timeout

I suggest starting by analyzing your report using the built in performance tools (docs.appian.com/.../Report_Performance_Details.html) and seeing if you can optimize any functions, aggregation, etc. in the report in order to get the execution time down.

I'd also evaluate how often the report data is being re-evaluated. Is it being executed constantly by these users? Does it need to be?

Is it possible to move away from a process report? If you can have your process save relevant data to a DB, you can turn this into a standard DB report, populated by a query entity expression. Once you do that you can control your batch size to make sure the report loads in a timely fashion.

What can be done if this is the default systemwide process report (the one in the Processes tab) that is timing out? In this case, there is no further optimization that can be done because it is just the system default report. Would reducing the total number of processes help? We have over 300,000 processes.

In my case, We don't have enough memory in server. After adding memory, issues are resolved. I have done couple of things like not adding process variables into report, not adding more number of filter(s) by keeping it simple. In your case, may be you can try with creating process reports based on status (by using predefined filters on process report) may be filter by date it will resolve issue (reports will be bit slow). But if you want solve this issue permanently, add additional memory to the server.

Process reports timeout is 2 sec (default). If report fails to fetch the data in 2 secs it will time out and reports won't work. We also modified the value to 5 sec ( property - MAXIMUM_REPORT_MS ) in server, and server became too slow. Please don't consider this option. Just passing this info.
